Walnuts, almonds, and pecans have been shown to help prevent breast cancer.


Researchers at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands have studied about 62,000 postmenopausal women for 20 years since 1986, and found that the Mediterranean diet lowered the risk of breast cancer by 40%, among which nuts were the most effective.

Among the nuts, pecans contain 25% more oleic acid than olive oil, which is known to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Omega-3, a vegetable fatty acid that helps prevent breast cancer, is abundant in walnuts.
In addition, nuts have antioxidant properties that inhibit free radicals, so they are effective as anticancer foods. The antioxidant index (ORAC) of each nuts is as high as 17,940 pecans per 100 g. Followed by walnuts (13,542), almonds (4454) and cashews (1948).
